System

The basic unit is composed of a PV (photovoltaic) panel, controller unit, 12V to 110V inverter and a Solar/Cell maintenance free sealed gel battery (for photovoltaic applications). In simple terms, the PV panel maintains the charge in the battery, the 12V battery power is converted to 110V through the inverter which powers the internal battery charger on the bike. By having the battery, there is power available to charge in low sun light conditions.All of these components were designed as an integrated system for this application to provide maximum output and battery charging capability. These components are all integrated into the new Solar-Shell locker.

Design

One of the unique features of the new Solar-Shell locker is that the angle of the PV panel can be adjusted to optimize year-round sun based on the the geographic latitude at which the locker is located. You provide the latitude and our technicians will see that the PV panel is set when it arrives. Our current locker allows PV panel angle adjustment to accommodate latitudes of the continental US and other countries which fall into the same latitude band in both the Northern & Southern hemisphere. Other latitudes accommodated upon request.

Circuitry

|
Electrical building codes are not a problem with the system operating at a safe 12 volts DC. The bike charging unit plugs directly into a U.L. approved inverter. For protection to the electrical components we have a controller module with automatic shut down circuitry which prevents damage to the electronic components under a number of situations. And should the system go into an automatic shut down, it is self initializing which means it will resume charging on its own. Other voltages can be readily accommodated for International applications.

Structure and Finish

|
Molded composite lockers shall be manufactured with fiberglass reinforced plastic with a solid color stipple texture finish. Finish allows easy removal of graffiti and is resistant to impact, scratches and U.V. damage. Lockers shall not use an external or internal frame. Walls and top shall be double wall construction for high strength and insulation from the elements, roof shall be crowned for water run off and all corners are curved. Finish does not need painting, resists impact plus chemicals and stains. Materials will withstand extremes in temperature and other weather/environmental conditions. Interior walls shall be OSB exterior board.The locker body components shall be joined by internal fasteners. Seven standard colors or CUSTOM COLORS can be matched with a color sample.

High-security, T-handle Medeco cylinder lock, removable plug-type cylinder. Internal heavy duty locking hardware consists of a sliding locking bar, 4 feet, 2 inches in length which is secured to the door with 1/2 inch stainless steel bolts and rides on teflon washers. Movement of locking bar is controlled by stainless steel cams attached to the shaft of the lock. Lock is recessed in the door face. High quality heavy gauge stainless steel continuous door hinge will not rust. All fasteners and assembly hardware is zinc plated or better.
